I just wanted to do a quick little post and say Happy New Year to all of my awesome readers/followers/ and the ones who keep coming back for more! You are the reason that I keep on keeping on with this blog and why I truly enjoy writing for you all so much! If I’m able to motivate, inspire, or help even just one person through lifestyle, motherhood, fitness, or food then I have accomplished exactly what I have set out to do here. I started this site in January of last year (fastest year ever) and it has truly become such a fun and interactive space for me to display a little bit of my life, thoughts, feelings, and experiences with you all.
The holiday season is here and things can definitely get crazy with the hustle and bustle of holiday parties and dinners, Christmas shopping, travel and lots of fun, quality time spent with family and friends. My calendar for December and January is jam packed and although I am very excited for it, this time of year can be a little bit stressful as well. Staying fueled during this busy season is so important for feeling good on the inside and out! We all need a little extra energy during the holidays and that is exactly why I always like to have some type of healthy snack on hand and stocked up in my refrigerator! One of my favorite go-to snacks would have to be-- homemade energy balls/bites! They are so easy to make and you can pack them full of your favorite fueling ingredients!
I haven’t posted a workout on the site in a while since I usually share on my insta stories (@lindsay_leggett) but I put together an arm workout that I did while Parker was napping and worked up a good sweat. For this workout I didn’t have a lot of time so I decided to superset each exercise with another and it turned out to be an effective/challenging workout which is exactly what I wanted! I like to do supersets during my workouts to help keep my heart rate up and to get more exercises completed in a given length of time…aka if nap time is cut short or P decides he wants to skip a nap altogether.
My son is now 13 months old and here I am still working on his 'first year' baby book. Pleaseee someone tell me I’m not the only one! Has it really taken me over 1 year to complete a year of first’s baby book? Yep, but I am ALMOST finished! I absolutely planned on having it completed by his first Birthday but let’s be real… caring for a tiny human takes a lot of time and work and those first couple of months in the new born stage were all so NEW, exciting, and at times exhausting so I kind of put the baby book on the back burner for a bit but I made sure to write down milestones and fun little anecdotes in my notes so I could log them in the book once I got around to it. I knew I would eventually fill out P’s first year book and these notes and dates that I wrote down have definitely come in handy.
As the weather begins to get cooler and winter on its way I realized that I won’t be taking P out for as many stroller runs together and that I will be focusing more on solo running so I decided to take advantage of this last bit of warmer weather and sign us up for some local 5k racing fun! A little over a week ago, Parker and I ran our 2nd timed 5K race together! Our first race was back in June and we really had a blast racing through the streets of our town although the bumpy roads made it a little more challenging so when I reached out to the race director for this specific race and found out that it was very stroller friendly and on a walking/running trail I couldn’t pass up the chance to run a race in our element! I always take Parker for runs on the running trails in our town. It is much safer on the trails because we avoid any traffic/uneven sidewalks and streets and since all of our runs together have been done on the running trails I was so excited to find a nice flat trail to put all of our training and hard work to the test in a timed race!
It’s fall ya’ll…better yet its PUMPKIN EVERYTHING season and I am all about that life.
Pumpkin is one of those flavors/foods that we don’t really think about other than well pumpkin season but it’s definitely a food that I could eat year round. I love baking with pumpkin, adding it to oats, pancakes and even smoothies! I picked up some pure pumpkin at my weekly grocery shopping trip and couldn’t wait to make something tasty with it! Pumpkin Spice Energy Balls were the first thing that came to mind.
